So what do we do exactly?

Praxis is a place-based waste space promoting de-growth by recycling materials that Flagstaff's municipal recycling program cannot accept and by reducing waste through repair-reuse activities and waste reduction services.  We recycle a variety of different plastics to make useful, durable products.  We also clean, refurbish, and redistribute as much littered/donated material as possible while providing green events services. We aim to avoid and reduce the wastefulness of our production-oriented economy.

Do you 3-d print your products?

Because 3D printing generally takes a long time, it is not ideal for production scale manufacturing. Praxis primarily uses compression molding, injection molding, and extrusion which are more time-efficient than 3D printing. Though all techniques have benefits and drawbacks we are not currently developing or producing any 3-D printed products.

What do we collect?

We accept most of the plastics that cannot be recycled by the city of Flagstaff, with the exceptions of #1 PET and bags.

This flowchart explains the waste that Praxis and Flagstaff takes in. All plastics must be clean and label-free. We accept broken household and other plastic products such as vacuum cleaners and printers; white office paper; unwanted but intact clothing, blankets, and textiles; vinyl banners; small furniture; office supplies; and much more. Please email us at info@praxiswaste.com for details and dropoff times.

"Isn't plastic sled pollution your life-blood as a company?"-Fox News 10

We do not support or promote the purchase or use of brittle, disposable sleds.  However we do believe Flagstaff is better served with the sled fragments recycled into new, durable products instead of send them to the landfill. Praxis recycles sleds to reduce the sled pollution problem and put the material to a more productive use. But the sleds are just the tip of the iceberg; like most cities, Flagstaff has been inundated with plastic waste for decades. Praxis is building local industry in Flagstaff to reduce this pollution's effect on our lives and land.

What can I put in my recycle bin in Flagstaff?

Flagstaff's curbside recycling program will accept #1&2 plastics only in the form of bottles jugs and jars (ie. if they have a removable cap and a neck) . They will not accept any berry clamshells, salad containers, yogurt containers, bags or any other plastics. Please do not bag your recyclables.
